My Philosophy
Where photography,
life, and art become
one….
Years ago when I was heavily involved in acting, I
joined Screen Actors Guild in the Washington
Metro region. Back then, an actor book was
published and you could enter limited information
about yourself, talents, etc. I chose to simply put
my life’s philosophy at the top: “Each new day give
thanks, help others, and make a difference.”
And that’s how I approach anything I do. I love art,
creativity, music, and appreciate the natural
beauty that surrounds me here in western North
Carolina. I love working with people, I love being
around animals and getting out in nature, and I
love capturing priceless images and memories.
Years ago I made the jump from Canon to Sony
and haven’t looked back since. I no longer shoot
medium format because of the superior
performance I got from my Sony a99 II bodies.
and now my Sony mirrorless ones. And very long
ago I said goodbye to my Burke & James 8x10 field
camera with its 14” Commercial Ektar lens….ah,
those good ol’ film days! But what a learning and
teaching ground it was to work in large format.
I approach every photography moment with a
wealth of creativity running through my head,
blending the technical with the art, and hopefully
capturing images that make me look at them over
and over…and smile every time.
So whether it’s a wedding, a special event, an
incredible scene, or a once-in-a-lifetime ‘thing’, my
goal is to capture it perfectly for myself and my
clients. I’m persnicketty about my images…very
persnicketty. :-)
